Dried fruits, usually known as peppercorns. Depending on harvest time and processing, peppercorns can be black, white, green and red (actually, reddish brown). The traditional types are black and white; dried green peppercorns are a more recent innovation, but are now rather common in Western countries. Red peppercorns, however, are still a very rare commodity.
